The best coffee you'll ever drink in Japan (as someone who doesn't like coffee). The owners are the friendliest and most open people you can find. English friendly as well. 10/10 experience.

Located in what looks like a sleepy coastal town, this cafe is the perfect spot for a break! The view is amazing, don't let the port fool you, make a stop around the viewing points and take it all in (the shop owner knows all the great spots). Coffee here is on point; the CoastCafe coffee was not too bitter or too light bodied. We got to choose our own tea/coffee cups from a nice selection of antique brands. That potato pie is to die for! No added sugars or butter. Light, flaky, just the right amount of sweetness, and just all around delicious! Sadly, I ate mine too fast... I hope I can have time to come back and enjoy another cup of coffee and a light snack next time I'm in Japan.

My wife & I stayed one night at the Coast Cafe & Guesthouse as part of a week long Kumano Kodo hiking tour with Oku Japan.  Mr. Yukawa kindly drove us around the area to see the local sites.  He is very proud of his town and Japanese history and likes to learn about his guests. Arriving into town from our previous destination, we witnessed a rare glimpse of a  submarine in Yura Bay.  Driving on, we stopped at Ocean Park for a walk to see sunset views from an observation deck offering 360 views of the area.  On the way back to Coast Cafe, we visited the Kokoku-ji Buddhist Temple - such a surprise and a must-see recommended stop! Our guest room was detached from the main house and very private.  The lounging space and beds were very comfortable.  The toilet area and bathing area are in separate locations outside of the guest room, but both were very easy to access and clean. We ate a nice dinner in the cafe and visited with Mr. Yukawa on AI, music and travel; he even showed us some slides of recent submarine activity and local tourism recommendations.  Our night was full and we visited so much we forgot to take more pictures of dinner & the cafe.  Both dinner and breakfast were delicious with a few dishes showcasing French-Japanese fusion.  When ordering coffee or tea, Mrs. Yukawa lets you choose your own cup & saucer from her antique cabinets - such a nice, personal touch of hospitality.  If you are in the area, make the drive to Coast Cafe - where you are guaranteed to get a warm welcome and visit and at the very least, the best pour-over coffee in Japan!
